Three car BRCW dmu sets were allocated to Norwich for the first time in late 1975. All except one came from Hull Botanic Gardens and were replacements for Metro-Cammell sets which had been gathered by Norwich from 1968 onwards. The Class 104 sets were in pretty poor nick, but here's one which has had some TLC at Doncaster Works. Photographed on April 25th 1980 whilst working the 13.36 Peterborough - Cambridge service, E50578 ended up being part of the last three car set at Norwich. Most of them left in 1980, but this one lasted until February 1981 when it went to Stratford. Refurbished Metro-Cammell triples were their replacements. The BRCW units were numbered 80 - 88 and the refurbished Cammells commenced with set 90.
