A dmu arrives at Buxton from Manchester in February 1970 on the LNWR route via Stockport Edgeley & Chapel-en-le-Frith. The white roof was a Buxton depot trademark. The tracks in the foreground led from the station to a junction on the line to Ashbourne by this time cut back to limestone quarries south of Buxton. The train is passing under the bridge which carried the branch line into the Up sidings.
