A proper 4-car Class 108 formation waits to leave Sunderland with 0926 Sunderland-Newcastle (all stations), while the passengers await the 0910 Newcastle-Whitby (departed 0929 from Sunderland - a through service to Whitby during the Summer only, otherwise travelled as far as Middlesbrough only). Note the manual signs suspended from the roof canopy, stating the next destination - written in chalk for the Middlesbrough service on platform 1.
