At Barnby Dun in 1971 a Class 114 diesel multiple unit passes under the fine Millstone Grit stone bridge - dating from 1856 when the South Yorkshire Railway opened the original line - carrying Armthorpe Lane on its way eastwards on the four track section of the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway, later Great Central Railway, main line to Grimsby & Cleethorpes. The platform of the closed Barnby Dun station is on the left.
