With the paraffin tail lamp moved to the cab front of Motor Brake Second M50764, the Cravens Power-Twin prepares to depart from a Wintery Ormskirk with the 09.19 to Preston in January 1979. During this period the Newton Heath based Class 105s were not common on the Ormskirk Line, the Derby built Class 108s were the normal fare. The weather was a total surprise on that day, no snow on leaving Preston, the wintery weather started across Farington Moss and got progressively worse towards Merseyside.
