With the former goods loading dock ramp in the foreground, a Class 104 2-Car DMU with M53529 leading, departs from Rufford with an Ormskirk to Preston Service on the 11th May 1988. For many years this unit had been a three car set working off Newton Heath Depot on Manchester Victoria to Blackpool North Services. By the time this image was recorded the unit had lost its centre car and was having an extended life as the newly introduced class 142s were starting to have reliability issues.
