A blue 2-car Class 114 diesel multiple unit is passing the platforms of Doncaster St James' station with a train from Sheffield on the ex-MS&LR/Great Central line on 30th August 1976. This photo was taken looking south from near St James' Road bridge. St James' station, which consisted of a single island platform, was built by the LNER in 1933 to serve excursion traffic. It never had a regular timetabled service and did not appear in timetables, only in "Special Traffic Notices" when it was to be used. The disused platforms survived until the late 1990s.
