Just to the north of Thorne, South Yorkshire (West Riding until the early 1970s) is the mining village of Moorends. This is Moorend level crossing and signal box & a diesel multiple unit led by E51847 is heading for Doncaster & Sheffield on 16th April 1976. This was the first box north out of Thorne North station & was of North Eastern Railway brick construction.
