Set P317 - A 3-Car Class 116 DMU with W50911 leading, presumably with 59492 + 50858, awaits departure from the single remaining operational platform at Exmouth with a service to Exeter St Davids on the 22nd July 1979. The unit was in the short-lived refurbished white with a blue stripe livery. The station had recently been rationalised, the redundant island platform with its Southern Railway canopy is on the left of this scene. A far cry from the busy Summer Saturdays of old, when trains to and from London Waterloo and the North served the East Devon seaside town.
