Under blue skies, redundant railway land and a boarded-up signalbox greet a refurbished Class 116 three-car DMU (P317 - 50858, 59492, 50911), as it was arriving at the East Devon seaside resort of Exmouth with a service from Exeter St Davids on July 22nd 1979. A far-cry from the days when on a Summer Saturday the terminus here handled through services to London Waterloo and the North. Martyn Hilbert.

Set P317 - A 3-Car Class 116 DMU with W50911 leading, presumably with 59492 + 50858, awaits departure from the single remaining operational platform at Exmouth with a service to Exeter St Davids on the 22nd July 1979. The unit was in the short-lived refurbished white with a blue stripe livery. The station had recently been rationalised, the redundant island platform with its Southern Railway canopy is on the left of this scene.
