A late Summer scene on the Preston to Ormskirk line, as a two-car Class 108 with DMBS M51941 leading, accelerates away from the token exchange at Midge Hall whilst working a Preston to Ormskirk service on September 5th 1979. The former crossing keepers cottage is on the right of the unit, the building being set back as the route was once double track in the days before the line was severed at Ormskirk and services ran to and from Liverpool Exchange. The landscape here is dominated by Globe Mill an animal feed plant located adjacent to the signalbox and level crossing at Midge Hall.
