"Testing of Final Drive". A wheelset destined for a 79xxx series Inter-City vehicle on stands at Swindon Works on 24th November 1955. Flexible air pipes are connection to the air cylinders that change the direction of the vehicle, the wheel attached to the input shaft will allow the wheels to be turned manually to check operation. When fitted the electrical switch sitting underneath will be connected to an indicator in the cab showing that the drive has engaged properly.
