In the Manchester Victoria of old, a two-car Class 108 formed of cars M51907 & M54490 (Longsight Depot Set LO262) was awaiting departure from platform 11 with a well-filled service to Wigan Wallgate on April 25th 1992. Platform 11 and its extension into the adjacent Manchester Exchange station was once the longest continuous platform in the UK at 2,238 ft (682m) in length. The 108 was another set to have an extended life covering for unreliable second generation units.
