One of the exhibits at the Crewe Works Open Day on September 22nd 1979, Test Coach Iris (RDB975010) was in the red/blue livery of the Railway Technical Centre at Derby. Built in 1956 as one of a pair of single units, 79900 was withdrawn from passenger service in 1967 and passed into departmental use.
