In refurbished white with blue stripe livery, a Class 108 DMU rake with DMCL E50630 nearest the camera, was stood at Morecambe Promenade on Bank Holiday Monday May 1st 1978. Complete with its paraffin tail lamp the DMU had arrived from Leeds with an additional bank holiday service. On the left of this scene is one of the stumps of the steel lattice gantries that once supported the catenary of the electric system that connected Morecambe, Heysham & Lancaster via Torrisholme which was closed in January 1966 along with the station at Lancaster Green Ayre. There were several of these cut-down lattice monuments at Morecambe for many years.
