Derby Suburban Set 387 brakes for Kilmaurs station on a northbound service to Glasgow Central. The station had reopened that day and was served by Glasgow - Kilmarnock local DMU services. Auchinleck station also re-opened the same day, generally served by Glasgow - Kilmarnock - Carlisle loco hauled services. Thus a trip between the two new stations at that time required a change at Kilmarnock. The new platform visible in the distance seems to be on the former Glasgow bound formation. Note the old goods shed to the right. Saturday 12 May 1984.
