Although not officially withdrawn until September 1983 it is highly unlikey that Class 105 DMBS E51301 ever carried any more passengers as it sits vandalised in Falkland Yard, Ayr on the 21st May 1983. Attached to sister Class 105 DMBS E50384 together they had operated together for a short time as Ayr TMD unit 105375. Both vehicles eventually made the long one way journey to Mayer Newmans Yard in Snailwell, Cambridgeshire where they were scrapped in January and June 1984 respectively.
