A Class 105 at Sudbury on 10 April 1979, awaiting the return back to Marks Tey. The leading car is E50384 and I only noted it as I got it new. Sadly the meticulous noting down of everything that I saw was waning by then. Alistair Ness.

Last Day No.23. Cravens 105 373 triple idles at Kilmacolm and is probably waiting to form the 16:01 service for Glasgow Central. An old notebook suggests this was DMBS E50384 (nearest) + DMBS E51301 + DTSL E56464. This may have been the last daylight departure from Kilmacolm. The masonry wall to the left is the corner of the former goods shed. Whilst the station buildings survived closure as a pub, the goods shed succumbed to redevelopment and was flattened to make way for housing. Saturday 08 January 1983. alicia hartman.

There was a tannery on the other side of the viaduct which is long gone. Single DMBS 50384 is attached to 51301 and 56464 at Kilmacolm on January 8th, 1983. The headboard requires a little bit of explanation - the last two surviving Class 126 sets had somehow managed to escape withdrawal at the time of the line's closure and one of the Swindon Diesel Preservation Society members had contacted BR to enquire if the sets could be rostered for service on the last day. A headboard was knocked up in the hope that something could be arranged. In the event, the Swindons were not rostered and the board seemed somewhat inappropriate, but was mounted for a short time at Kilmacolm for photographs. Andrew McConnell.

Two Cravens DMUs waiting to depart from Cambridge for Ipswich and Ely on 18 January 1981. Closest is a DTCL from set 77 - it seems to have been one of the vehicles that was built with four marker lamps - the centre two have been removed and plated over. The other vehicle is the DMBS from set 35 and has the mounting for the top centre marker lamp. It is thought to be 50384 which also once had four lamps. Rob Edwards.
A 2-car Class 105 with a DMBS stuck on the back (presumably E56464 + 51301 with 50384) seen at Kilmacolm. Date unknown, but judging by the attention the train is getting this is probably taken in January 1983 when the line closed. Phil Deane Collection.

Although not officially withdrawn until September 1983 it is highly unlikey that Class 105 DMBS E51301 ever carried any more passengers as it sits vandalised in Falkland Yard, Ayr on the 21st May 1983. Attached to sister Class 105 DMBS E50384 together they had operated together for a short time as Ayr TMD unit 105375. Both vehicles eventually made the long one way journey to Mayer Newmans Yard in Snailwell, Cambridgeshire where they were scrapped in January and June 1984 respectively. Bob Woolnough.
