E53045 was a 1957 Derby-built DMU which spent its whole life until withdrawn in 1988 allocated to Lincoln. It was originally numbered 50045 but there was a general renumbering of many DMU power cars around 1983 to move them out of the number ranges used by diesel locos. At this time (28 July 1984) the trailer it was running with was 54004. Both are painted in South Yorkshire Transport "coffee and cream" livery with a message on the side celebrating 10 years of South Yorkshire PTE. It is working a Skegness to Nottingham service on this summer Saturday.
