The wires are up at Harlington (Bedfordshire) in August 1980, but electric trains would not arrive until 1982. In the meantime the Class 127 "Bedpan" DMUs maintain the services between St. Pancras and Bedford with Driving Motor Brake Second M51647 leading the train paused at the platform.
