Met camm lightweight at Stratford depot

Larger image(s): 1200px  1600px

Details

An Eastern Region publicity image showing the corridor connection on a Met-Camm 'Lightweight' DMU between E79274 and E79058 at Stratford circa March 1956.

On the jumper closest the number 4 can be seen painted on the right hand plug. The text on the left vehicle end reads - 25 TONS, 57-0" x 9-3", 72 T., T.O., TWIN' - showing it is a third open in a twin set with 72 third class seats. There is some small text at the very bottom corner, it is unreadable but seems to end in 'SYN' so is probably a paint date.

Note the style of water filler pipe with flap, I normally associated this with drinking water for buffet / restaurant cars, and that the DMBS also had the filler pipe, not because it has a toilet but these are for the coolant system.
