A Swindon Inter-City 79xxx series DMU after hitting station buffers. The image from an unknown newspaper, the caption read 'Passengers from the crashed train hand in their tickets as they pass the damaged end of the platform'. The undated newspaper clipping is courtesy of Graham Johnston. It is thought to have occurred on 27th March 1967 in Edinburgh Waverley platform 14 and the train was the 07:30 from Glasgow Queen Street, as detail in the comments section by John W. Note how the yellow panel is painted on the side of the route indicator box but the lining isn't, and the set number painted on the lower corner of the yellow panel, these set numbers were introduced in November 1966.
