An official image (Derby Works negative 57/620) showing a 'Motive Power Diesel Instruction' train comprised of two converted ex-passenger coaches as a Model Car (DM395225) and a Lecture Car (DM395226). Derby is believed to have created three of these, which toured motive power depots to teach staff about the new diesel technology. The ducting for a Smiths heater and a small fuel tank can be seen under the closest vehicle.
