In Regional Railways livery, a well-filled First North Western Metro-Cammell Class 101, 101682 formed of cars 53256 & 51505, was stood at Romiley with a Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield service on May 12th 2001. The remaining fleet of Longsight allocated 101's saw out their last stint of operation working services from Piccadilly to Marple, Rose Hill, New Mills Central and Sheffield, before the last units were withdrawn on Christmas Eve 2003.
