Network South East’s “Network Day” on 16th April 1988 turned out to be dull and damp but armed with a ticket giving me the freedom of the network, I headed for Kent. A surprise sight at Ramsgate was this 4 car Tyseley DMU. No idea where it came from, it doesn’t feature on Six Bells Junction. Must have been a relief for passengers to alight here on what must have been a long journey (wonder what route it took) from the Midlands. Set T403 was a bit of a hybrid, the front car here is class 116 53106, the centre cars were class 127 vehicles displaced from Cricklewood by the Bed-Pan electrification, and the rear car was class 115 51852. A real mystery…
