A 6-car diesel unit formation is seen setting back into Cumbernauld station after reversing by the signal box on 6 May 1977. At this time the service operated was from Springburn to Cumbernauld. There's a lovely little shunt signal on the opposite platform. losest appears to be a DMBS (no pipes on the roof for the toilet) - and the front roof vents have been removed (unusual to be done this early). It is followed by a three-car set formed of a suburban car (a Class 116 DMS?) - with two Class 101 cars. A two-car Class 101 is on the rear.
