The corridor of Sc59402 taken from the second class end. A swing door divided the four second class compartments from the three first class. It is wedged open in this view but was just past the exterior door - note the divider in the ceiling. The 1956/7 build for the WR/E&G line had veneer paneling along the corridor on the exterior side, this batch had Formica paneling and also had the formica panel inlays on the lower compartment side. The vehicle was an Swindon Inter-City composite trailer car (TCKL) built for the Glasgow - Ayr/Girvan/Stranraer route. A Swindon Works image - negative 5CR/137, recorded in the Works photograph ledger as taken on 18 June 1959 yet the vehicle was new to Ayr in April so likely taken around that time.
