With its former headcode box panelled over, Metro-Cammell Class 111 Driving Motor Composite Lavatory E51552 was stood at York with a service to Scarborough on September 15th 1978. There were ten 3-car Class 111's fitted with headcode boxes for the North Eastern Region introduced in 1959/1960. All were fitted with Rolls-Royce 180hp Diesel engines.
