With alighted passengers climbing up the steps, a Class 127 (Red Triangle) four-car DMU with Driving Motor Brake Second M51595 at the rear, was departing from Elstree with a St Pancras to Bedford stopping service on April 12th 1980. M51595 was gutted by a fire at Bedford carriage sidings on April 1st 1983 that also destroyed M51614, the fire was thought to have been started by a discarded cigarette end.
