High up in the Pennines, a Gloucester Class 100 Twin comprising Driving Trailer Composite (downgraded to Driving Trailer 2nd) M56109 and Motor Brake 2nd M50354 await departure from platform 3 at Stalybridge with the 11:45 service to Stockport. Saturday 9th March 1983. Having grown up with Gloucester twins in eastern Scotland, I was always glad to renew my acquaintance with the type though I have to admit I regarded them with some disdain when they were everyday fare.
