Trains from Bletchley to Bedford formerly terminated at St Johns station (see below). When the original St Johns was closed on 14 May 1984 Bletchley trains were diverted into Bedford Midland station via a connecting curve from the Bletchley line. My photo shows a train on this connecting curve on 4 January 1997. The train is composed of Class 117 vehicles 51363+51405 and is standing at the "new" St Johns station (hidden by the train in my photo), which is a simple single platform. The site of the "original" St Johns station is just beyond the houses to the left of the dmu.
