An unusual Met Camm - the only non-refurbished unit to wear Regional Railways livery. L835, with DMBS 51432 and DMCL 51498 is pictured at Manchester Piccadilly with the 1047 stopping service to Sheffield on 8 March 1997. The set number comes from it's days based at Reading when the unit was part of the large Network South East fleet, it was transferred to Longsight in Manchester on 17th December 1993, but wasn't repainted into Regional Railways livery for another year. Other Longsight-based Class 101s had received a full refurbishment prior to being repainted, and had set numbers of the format 1016xx.
