Running towards Iver Station on the Up Relief whilst forming the 1110 Reading - Paddington stopping service on 17 August 1988 is RG allocated Class 117 DMU set L423 wearing the revised NSE livery of darker blue, but still retaining the BR double arrows. The set formation being 51361 + 59513 + 51399. The route to the left of the up relief line just in front of the train is an Up Goods Loop which runs as far as West Drayton station where it rejoins the relief line. At this time it served the Coal Concentration depot at West Drayton and allowed access, via a run round move at either Southall Yd, Hanwell Bridge Sidings or Acton Yard, towards the stub of the Staines branch which had traffic towards the oil sidings at Colnbrook and the stone terminal at Thorney Mill.
