After depositing its passengers at Appley Bridge, Newton Heath based 50796 prepares to lead its service eastwards on 23rd August 1980. The 4-car formation was on a Southport to Manchester Victoria working. Dating from 1957, this unit was nearing the end of its life, being withdrawn in December 1982, and scrapped by Vic Berry of Leicester in 1984.
