Class 116 DMS 53909, formerly of Cardiff division set formation C316, complete with Welsh dragon symbol on cab front, is seen in what was then platform 11 (now platform 9) of Newcastle station on 24/09/1987. The destination blind reads Ystrad Mynach, shortly after a member of railway staff had turned it to a blank position to avoid the confusion of the travelling public.
