A class 120 / 101 dmu arrives at Troon with the 18.00 Glasgow Central - Ayr on 22-08-1986, as 47486 departs with the all first class 18.45 Ayr - Glasgow Central. This was formed of the 'Nightrider' train, which later in the evening formed an overnight service to London. It had earlier formed the 17.30 Glasgow Central - Ayr. Electric services started at the end of the following month. Although carrying set number 52 it is believed to be set 520 formed 53711 + 59046 + 53749.
