DMU

Date: 1st August 1958

Set number: 39

A six-car Met-Camm formation emerges from Grosmont Tunnel with the 1.20pm Goathland-Whitby service on 1 August 1958. Both sets are former four-car sets reduced to three-cars with the removal of the TSL. E50182 leads - note the number on the lamp bracket under the driver which seems to read 39 - these were common on NER sets at the time - a diagram or set number? The very rear car is E50749. Michael Mensing.

DMU

Date: 1984

Set number: 101320

Met-Camm set 101320 on Haymarket depot in 1984 with DMBS 51248 closest, presumably with 59046 + 53749. S Saunders.

DMU

Date: 22nd August 1986

Set number: 520

A class 120 / 101 dmu arrives at Troon with the 18.00 Glasgow Central - Ayr on 22-08-1986, as 47486 departs with the all first class 18.45 Ayr - Glasgow Central. This was formed of the 'Nightrider' train, which later in the evening formed an overnight service to London. It had earlier formed the 17.30 Glasgow Central - Ayr. Electric services started at the end of the following month. Although carrying set number 52 it is believed to be set 520 formed 53711 + 59046 + 53749. Gordon Thomson.

DMU

Date: circa Aug/Sep 1986

Set number: 520

A Class 120/101/101 formation at Prestwick, circa August / September 1986. The DMBC seems to be missing a digit from its set number, Ayr had many 5xx sets at the time (the formations changed frequently). Note it also still has 'EP' under the left cab window, and it has oval buffers. Although carrying just set number 52, this is set 520 formed of 53711 + 59046 + 53749. Andrew McConnell.

DMU

Date: 26th April 1987
