A 6-car Class 126 Swindon Inter-City set. The folks at Scot-Rail.co.uk and 'Mad Mac' identified the location as being between Troon and Barassie, the train heading towards Glasgow. The building in the background is the old Barassie Works. Date unknown. Stuart Rankin.

Vehicle: 52011   Set: 107734

The overhead power lines are off as ScotRail 107734 (presumably 52011 + 59791 + 51994) and a Met-Camm set call at Barassie with an Ayr to Kilwinning shuttle, during maintenance works on 25-03-1989. Of note is that the station building at Barassie (left) is still standing - it was removed shortly after this. Gordon Thomson.

A Swindon Inter-City formation enters Barassie station in August 1963 with a St Enoch - Ayr service. The two three-car sets contain a mix of 5xxxx and 79xxx series vehicles - the third vehicle in both sets have the van at the far end - next to the cab - meaning they are the earlier 1956 build. Corriebob.

Barassie, August 1963. This is a Park Royal railbus used for Ayr-Kilmarnock services. On several occasions, a steam hauled two-coach set had to step in when the thing failed. Here it is off to Ayr towed by a Black 5 to get a new rubber band fitted. Corriebob.

101430 has 51803 closest and two Class 107 vehicles (presumably 59802 + 52008), and is working with a Class 120 set on an Ayr service arriving into Barassie on September 24, 1986. Hamish Stevenson.

53241 is not running with its usual 101304 partners when seen at Barassie with a Largs - Glasgow service on August 28, 1986, but with a TBS and DMS from another set, probably 59074 + 53158. Hamish Stevenson.

8 over at the clubhouse. Watched by a couple of local lads, an early evening Glasgow to Ayr service slows to a halt at Barassie Junction. The 8 car rake is led by Swindon class 126 DMS Sc51012.
