On the second day of the Branch Line Society's "Ayrshire Wanderer" railtour, August 30th 1981, a mixed formation set was used. The leading end here is Class 120 Swindon-built "cross-country" car 51787, the trailer is a similar former buffet car (59685) and the far end is a Metro-Cammell class 101 car (51529). The 1981 BLS Scottish Tour was the Ayrshire Wanderer which ran in two parts. The Sunday tour (on 30 August) started and finished at Ayr and here we are at Barrhill. Alistair Ness.
