A Derby Heavyweight class 114 DMU set is seen crossing Mexborough East Junction with train 2R09 the 09.42 Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes. The line to the right being the once busy freight route via Wath marshalling yard which lost its importance with the closure of the Woodhead route across the Pennines. Adrian Nicholls.
A hazy summer day at Mexborough Junction which is between Rotherham and Doncaster on 13/06/1979. A Swindon Class 123 is leading the 12.10 Cleethorpes - Manchester past the old signal box which is neatly situated between the waterway and railway.
