Vehicle: 51335   Set: L707

Set L707 (51335 visible) approaches Ridgmont with a service from Bletchley on 15 06 1995, passing under the M1 Motorway. Just beyond the unit is a WW2 left-over, and that was part of PLUTO [pipeline under the ocean] where oil was fed to other parts of the warring world (Thanks to the late Sid Cave for the trivia). L131 (55031) brings up the rear of L707 (presumably 51377 + 51335) at Ridgmont Station on 15 06 1995. During term times of the Harpur Trust Schools in Bedford, trains were invariably strengthened to accommodate the number of children that used the services regularly. Paul Fleet.

Vehicle: 56148   

With the trademark chimneys of the London Brick Company smoking in the background 56148 and 50391 are approaching their stop at Ridgmont on the Bletchley - Bedford line on 14/02/1981. Just by the chap walking onto the platform is the lever frame for the signals and crossing, this was moved here in 1934 as a staff economy measure and it allowed the signalman to open and shut the gates and attend to booking tickets, the instruments are inside the bay windowed booking hall. New Year Eve 1988 sees a NSE class 108 DMU arriving at Ridgmont from Bedford. The Bedford Arms pub in the background, complete with a collection of car hub caps (!), closed in the mid-1990s and was later demolished. The station is actually in Husborne Crawley.
