19th October 1991

Set: L221

I went to Ely on 19 October 1991, partly to photograph "Taw Valley" and "Flying Scotsman" on specials and partly to record the semaphores that would soon be disappearing. An additional image included a couple of Class 101 2-car sets at Ely. The set on the left is 101655 (formed 54062/51428), but I didn't record the set on the right. It looks like the set number is L221, which I think at this time was 51208/54402. Lewis Bevan.

54220+51222 arrive into Ely with 2H54, the Cambridge to Kings Lynn on January 14, 1992. Nicholas Youngman.

17th May 1992

Set: L223

L223 (presumably 54068 + 51444) leaves Ely, at the height of the remodelling, with a Cambridge service on May 17, 1992. Alex Drennan.

Regional Railways Class 101 DMU set No. 101652 (54346 + 53198) departs Ely working the 14:57 service to Norwich on 17 April 1993. Brian Creasey.
