On 11 August 1984 a London Paddington to Reading service leaves Slough formed of a couple of Pressed Steel class 121 single "bubble cars" and one matching trailer plus a three-car class 117. It would be impossible to take a satisfactory picture here in 2020 owing to all the electrification paraphernalia. Jeremy Chapter.
Class 117 dmus were the backbone of local services out of London Paddington for many years following construction by Pressed Steel in Linwood, Scotland in 1959-61. This three-coach train (presumably 51362 and presumably 59514 + 51404) is passing the prefabricated delight of Slough signal box on August 11, 1984. Jeremy Chapter.

Class 117 DMU, set B430 (presumably 51368 59520 51410) is about to pass Stoke Edith SB Up Distant signal with a service from Hereford to Oxford, September 1984. The distant would disappear along with Stoke Edith and Shelwick Junction signal boxes when the line was singled a couple of months later in November of that year. John Crooks.

Class 117 B429 (presumably 51409 + 59519 + 51367) arrives at Cradley Heath 6/10/1984 with a Kidderminster to Birmingham New Street service. The down platform came into use in January 1984. A new bus station was also being established adjacent to the station. Stephen Burdett.
