Thought to be a Class 118 "twin" in the early variant of BR blue (with half yellow panel), hauling no less than three milk tankers at Stuart Road, Plymouth. Reportedly limited to two tankers if loaded, the presence of three suggests these are "empties" possibly returning to Saltash. The tankers were often tripped between Saltash and Plymouth by steam auto trains for onward attachment to London expresses. In latter years, the same routine continued with DMU's. March 1969. Bernard Mills.
