119 DMU

13th November 1976

Birmingham University, West Midlands, 13th November 1976. A new station was opened to serve the university & Queen Elizabeth Hospital after I had left but on one of my many visits I captured a Class 119 diesel multiple unit train heading south (probably to Redditch) through the partially built platforms. The Worcester & Birmingham canal on the right parallels the railway out to Kings Norton. In the distance is the Pritchatts Road overbridge from where the previous telephoto shot was taken 3 months earlier. Today the route is electrified as part of the Cross-City Line. Pete LG99.

119 DMU

16th June 1979

An unusual combination of a Class 119 DMSL and plain blue Class 105 DTCL or DMCL seen at Swindon on 16 June 1979. With no brake van in the set they are probably ex-works en-route to their home depots. With "Chesterfield" on the destination blind the 119 could be a Chester vehicle - on this date it only had one set, the DMSL being 51100. Nicholas T Smith.

119 DMU

14th October 1979

A Class 119 DMSL and centre car in Swindon Works on 14 October 1979 in what is presumably a DMU shed. Note the overhauled radiators in the foreground, further to the right is a bunch of starter motors, a gasket board, and what seems to be a rack of air receivers. Brian Daniels.
