A Swindon-built Class 126 DMU arrives into Glasgow Central circa 1982. A tail lamp is carried on the intermediate DMS - the class were never fitted with any marker / tail lamps. Ian MacDonald.

The Way It Was. Swindon Inter-City 126 407 arriving at Platform 11, Glasgow Central High Level on a murky afternoon. Passengers are opening doors for a quick exit on the final vacuum application. The markings and OHLE flashes on the nose of the DMSL suggest this is Sc51015 (see images on Railcar). The short stay car park to the right is gone and has been replaced by Platforms 12 and 13. Scrapper. Swindon DMSL Sc51029 (nearest) awaits its fate at Falkland Yard, Ayr. The DMBSL visible at the end of the next set is Sc51037, which was subsequently photgraphed. Railcar data suggests that the adjacent DMSL could then be Sc51015. Sunday 24 October 1982. alicia hartman.

The surviving Class 126 sets (126 406 and 413) together with loose power car Sc51016 sit in Ayr (Kyle St) carriage sidings in August 1982. The sets had been both withdrawn and reinstated in this month, eventually surviving in traffic until January '83. Andrew McConnell.

This 'intermediate' car (the now preserved 51017) still has it's gangway fitted, and carries a cover once commonly used on the back of hauled stock. The Class 126s generally always ran latterly with the buckeyes permanently raised. Malcolm Clements.
