Class 128 parcels DMUs Nos. 55994 and 55991 stand in St Pancras on 20 January 1989. Brian Creasey.
The small fleet of class 128 DMLV's (Driving Motor Luggage Vans) were once a common sight at the London end of the Western Region as well as around Manchester. Vehicle 55994 is seen here on 24/4/89 with its gangway plated over waiting to depart Reading with 4A17 the 16.20 London Paddington to Oxford parcels/mail working. To the observant yes its in a west facing bay platform to avoid occupying one of Reading's four busy through platforms. This working was booked to use platform 8 but frequently shunted to bay platform 7 during its station dwell time 17.13 to 17.22. Adrian Nicholls.

This was from a dark half-frame slide with no details. It shows two Class 128s with vehicles in tow at Shrewsbury, probably in the early/mid-1970s. M55995 is closest, the second one is likely 93 or 94, these three vehicles being allocated to Chester from October 1973. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Class 128s at Chester station 22 March 1975. I have a choice of three from my log book that day. These should be two from M55993, M55994 or M55995. I also wish I'd composed the shot better and got the whole of the signals in. Oh well I can always go back another day... Update: closest vehicle now identified as M55995 and M55994. Alistair Ness.
