Oops! A Derby Lightweight vehicle has suffered a broken axle on the cab end bogie and the passengers have been detrained. There were no details with the negative but it seems to be the same incident as captioned Colour Rail image reference 30136 making it M79185, circa early 1960s. Stuart Mackay Collection.

E79152 at the front of the 11.35am Newcastle - Leeds City about to depart from York on May 19, 1962. This was one of the four-car sets, un-repainted since new as all vehicles still have the original lion over wheel crests. The cab front has had whiskers applied, and a dummy socket added for the jumper cables. There could be draft problems in the cab judging by the amount of papers shoved down the front of the drivers desk. Michael Mensing.

Two of the two-car Derby Lightweight DMUs allocated to South Gosforth depot in Newcastle Central on May 21, 1962. The shed had four twins from new in 1956, one would be withdrawn with accident damage, the remaining three including E79660 seen here would be transferred to Cambridge in June 1965.
