A Wickham railbus - thought to be taken in Perth shed (63A) - date unknown. While allocated here it would probably normally be working Crieff - Gleneagles services. Stuart Mackay Collection.
This was an official British Railways image that was also issued as a postcard. Taken at Glen Douglas (nowadays a passing place between Garelochhead and Arrochar & Tarbet stations) it is almost certainly Sc79969 when it was introduced to the Craigendoran - Arrochar & Tarbet service in November 1959. British Railways.

Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 44804 (17A) heads homeward with an unfitted coal train, whilst heading in the opposite (south-westerly) direction at Burton-on-Trent is Wickham's "Elliot Track Recording Coach" DB999507 - 28/09/1964. The 5MT was withdrawn from BR service in March 1968 and was scrappred by Draper's of Hull in June that year. After use by the RTC at Derby, the Wickham's car survives (as the sole example of that company's railbus production), and after a nomadic existence since preservation can now be found in regular passenger carrying use on the Lavender Line near Uckfield, East Sussex. Wickham railbus Sc79965. No details with this image, it appears that it could be after withdrawal in 1964 - it is seen at Stirling South shed at the end of a siding blocked by a partially dismantled diesel shunter. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Although the unit number was not recorded by the original photographer, the date, location and accident damage to the front end would suggest this to be SC79968, stored at Ayr depot during Easter weekend 1966. Phil Griffin.
