There were two types of Rolls Royce engine used in DMUs, both from their C range, the six-cylinder C6 (180hp) and the eight-cylinder C8 (238hp).
Only two DMU types were fitted with the C6 engines:
All power cars were built with two engines, and drive was via mechanical transmission.
When new one Met-Camm power car was tested with a supercharged (to 230hp) version.
In the early 1980s the Met-Camm power cars had one engine removed leaving them as single engine vehicles.
